Kolom-JBM.CO.ID | Sukarno-Hata memproklamasikan kemerdekaan Indonesia pada tanggal 17 Agustus 1945. Perjuangan menuju kemerdekaan ketika itu didukung oleh kekuatan tentara nasional Indonesia yang bertempur untuk melawan pihak pasukan Belanda. Di samping itu para diplomat Indonesia turut juga berjuang lewat perundingan dengan pihak Belanda. Perundingan ini diprakarsai oleh Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa.
Revolusi 1945 berhasil mendirikan negara Republik Indonesia. Tetapi perjuangan belum selesai. Sekarang bangsa Indonesia sedang gencar-gencarnya melaksanakan pembangunan di segala bidang. Semangat revolusi 1945 adalah modal dasar bagi pembangunan manusia Indonesia seutuhnya agar negeri ini tidak tertinggal dari bangsa-bangsa lain di muka bumi ini.
Generasi muda bangsa ini mesti mempersiapkan diri sebaik-baiknya agar pembangunan dapat berjalan dengan lancar. Kaum pelajar dan mahasiswa hendaknya menguasai ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang dibutuhkan dalam pembangunan nasional. Tanpa iptek Indonesia akan menjadi negara yang paling terbelakang. Oleh karena itu iptek adalah satu-satunya jalan keluar agar bangsa ini bisa sejajar dengan negara-negara maju.
Beberapa masalah yang dihadapi bangsa Indonesia antara lain kemiskinan, demokrasi, pelanggaran HAM dan gangguan keamanan. Gerakan separatis mengancam keutuhan NKRI. Pemilu yang bersih dan jujur adalah dambaan setiap insan Indonesia. Program pembangunan diarahkan agar dapat mengikis kemiskinan rakyat Indonesia. Pendapatan per kapita Indonesia masih jauh di bawah negara kecil seperti Singapura. /Jbm
